|
|
I don't intend offense to anyone by starting this thread, so please just take it as a very polite question: do you think we still need religions in the world?
I mean, I'm sure lots of christians, jews or islamics are very good people and that their faith helps them in being that way, unfortunately bad things have far more publicity in our world and many wars have been fought, still they are, in the name of God.
Isn't it amazing that we are still having wars for almost the same reasons as a thousand years ago during the crusades?
What do you think? |

| All societies have had one form of religion or another. A love of religion many times can stabilize a civilization |

| I wonder... don't you think that the US government problems with war at Irak and Afghanistan have something to do with Bush religious fanatism? I can't stop thinking he's sometimes as fanatic as many of the terrorists they are supposedly fighting. |

| Keep it in perspective. President Bush is a Christian and while many of tried to label the faith wrongly, do note the roots of the faith are the teachings of Christ. Christ was about love, kindness, forgiveness, mercy, humility. Islam is none of these things. You can't compare the two. Give me a fanatical Christian over a fanatical Islamic any day. |

The situation with Iraq and Afgh date back many years and are inter-realted with numerous events dating back the the years middle eastern countries were European colonies and the establishment of the Israeli state. |

Hi MHJ, thank you for your insightful posts, that's really true. I said "something to do with", meaning it's not, of course, the only cause of the conflicts.
Gosh, the CIA guys are always behind the scenes, uh? |
